Geri-Lee was another 7:00 am call to Tonya on the way to work. I wanted a fluff and puff fancy girl. I am certain she grimaced at this request. Tonya fulfilled this when she invited me over to view Drama’s recent litter. As they all ran around in the yard my eye kept going to a little red girl. (Always loved that beautiful golden coat in the hues of auburn) But… I knew what I said I wanted and chose a beautiful blond girl, fluff and puff And fancy to boot! Best decision I ever made! At 13 months of age she won a group 2 placement. That was just the beginning of her wonderful show dog career. She won the American Bred class at the National, winners Bitch at Specialties and became Outstanding Dam with her offspring. Geri-Lee taught me humility. Although she was a gorgeous fancy girl, she lived to plop in poop. I will never forget the time I waltzed my gorgeous girl into the vet office. I was decked out in all my golden retriever paraphernalia from jewelry to my jacket and I am certain a shirt showing a recent dog show I had attended. My dress to show the success of my glorious beautiful golden at the end of my lead..as I reached down to lovingly hug her in the waiting room for all the spectators to view my love I found her neck and her full shoulder caked in poo. Humiliating but so funny. They do have a way of humiliating us and knocking us down a peg or two. It was a long fall off that tall horse I had been riding.
