Boogie was from the Time litter. He was my first homebred Best In Show Golden. Wow what an accomplishment and I feel like we have come so far. He was the first dog that I had specialed after retiring Rebel in 1989, and will always hold a special place in my heart because of these accomplishments
Boogie was a beautiful boy that truly loved life and his sister Sky. He loved Sky so much that he would help me groom her with his teeth! Sky and I went to Eastern Washington to get her finished without Boogie and when I got home he was so excited to see her that he trimmed chunks of feathering on her front leg to about an inch long explaining to her how much he missed her…. He also enjoyed some trimming on her rear stifle. Needless to sayI was not amused and we handled things differently after that grooming incident.
Due to the fact that Boogie had juvenile cataracts, he was never bred and I felt was doing no harm by showing him. He was filling a void for me during the transition of Rebel being retired and Mark and I considering our move to Washington State. He finished his Championship quickly with some nice major wins in California and Washington. During this time he also acquired a Best In Sweepstakes win at the GRCA Western Regional in California under Taffee McFadden. I was so honored by this win as I have so much respect for Taffee.. As a special Boogie entered GRCA’s Show Dog hall of fame quickly with multiple Best In Shows wins.
He was young when we retired him from the show ring as others were on the rise. While we so enjoyed him as a pet Denise Reel asked if Boogie could became her big red dog, one that she could take fishing and just be a dog.. So Boogie our first homebred Best In show boy, ended up living life to its fullest at the Vanreel farm.
