Ty is a 75 pound dynamo of a dog that from a very early age showed he was not just a pretty face and playboy, but a serious field retriever. Despite absences from field training to achieve his Championship and Grand Championship, Ty marched through the hunt test ranks to achieve his Master Hunter title and JAM at the field Qualifying level. He has gathered 25+ Master Hunter passes and has completed several field trial Qualifying level stakes, receiving three JAMs on very limited exposure.

Ty is a beautiful, moderate dog, combining the Rush Hill good looks and structure with a performance personality. He has the most joyous attitude of any golden retriever we have met. He looks forward every day to the challenges life brings and carries the weight for his owners no matter the season or the task. He has given his best in every AKC venue we have played in, as well as being a reliable hunting companion for both upland game and waterfowl. Ty is in the Dual Dog Hall of Fame with a three star designation. In 2022 Ty was awarded the perpetual trophy awarded to the Golden Retriever who earned an AKC Championship as well as qualified for the Limited All Age stakes, awarded in honor of Ch AFC Lorelei’s Golden Rockbottom UD.

First and foremost, Ty is a wonderful family companion. He embraces all, young and old, animal and person alike. He is at my side while feeding our goats, hens, horses and cattle, loves sitting by the fire or on the porch while we read or enjoy a glass of wine, and greets every new day (which includes after a nap) with his tail a’ wagging.

Ty’s call name was chosen after we watched an interview with Ty Michael Carter, who received a congressional Medal of Honor for his service to our country. The story he told he had returned home to his family and began a long awaited trip with his dogs. When told the President was trying to reach him, he said he’d have to wait until after he had his vacation with his dogs. A person with indeed the right perspective in life, and so we named Ty in his honor. Ty has definitely proved worthy of that name. At age 10.5, Ty is our joy and our delight, our companion and our teammate, still eager to go to shows, tests and hunting and fishing, and we will always be grateful to Tonya Struble and Rush Hill Goldens for the honor of shepherding this dog through his life. We love this dog with all our heart.
